Market Art Fair - Market Debut: Stockholm, Sweeden

Spritmuseum, 12 - 14 May 2023

Þula Debuted at Market Art Fair in Stockholm this year (2023).

We brought the talented Kristín Morthens and Áslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir.

About the artistis:

Kristín Morthens

Kristín Morthens' paintings deal with boundaries, intimacy and separation through narratives of limb-like figures in abstract spaces. These subjects often perform a gesture of almost-touching, reaching out or pulling in, either toward themselves or between each other. The focus of physicality is repeated through layering techniques using materials such as oil, spray paint, dry pastels and charcoal. The contrasting surfaces highlight notions of boundaries and materialism.

Áslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir

Áslaug Íris Katrín Friðjónsdóttir (b. 1981) graduated from the art department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2006 and later completed a master's degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2009. Áslaug has participated in exhibitions in Iceland, the United States and Europe. In her works she deals with formal aesthetics and image structure, where her artistic creation is characterized by a constant search for balance. Strong sense of materiality is a great focus of her work and with the use of materials that are often related to the modern construction industry and house building, Áslaug refers to arts history while creating a dialogue with the contemporary artscape.
