Reykjavik Art Museum

This exhibition gathers a selection of emerging artists and their new and recent works in the spirit of Reykjavík Art Museum‘s annual exhibition series in D-Gallery. Following the recent occasion of the 50th exhibition in the series, we depart from the usual routine, with works extending beyond the walls of D-Gallery and spreading across the upper part of Hafnarhús.

Looking to what is currently nourishing the scene, various common threads surface in the exhibition. In addition to uninhibited exploration with materials and media, artists are concerned with keeping humanity afloat in some form or response prompted in opposition to rapidly developing uniformity, automation, mass production, and artificial intelligence. The works highlight the individual, the body, creativity, emotional intellegence, craftsmanship, narrative art, and heritage. These elements and more reflect the depth of existence and the diversity of individuals in contemporary society.
